Notes for Marguerite Isabele Braton

General Note
Marguerite, daughter of Benjamin and Clara (Moll) Braton was born June 27th, 1907 on her family farm in Prairie View Township, Wilkin County, Minnesota. She attended school and grow to womanhood in that area. In those early years, Marguerite worked on the family farm and spent many hours in the garden. Marguerite married Cleo Garrison October 28, 1928 at her parent's home in Prairie View Township. The couple made their home near Lawndale, Minnesota for one year and then moved into Lawndale and later into Barnesville, Minnesota. In her working years, Marguerite painted many buildings, cooked for depot agents in Lawndale, picked and cut potatoes for many years. Mr. Garrison died in 1975. She continued to live in Barnesville. In 1996 she became a resident of Barnesville Good Samaritan center where she lived until the time of her death.

Marguerite was a member of St. James United Church of Christ. She was a member of the Women's Guild and Circle, serving as key lady for the circle for 20 years. Marguerite and Cleo cared for foster children in their home for many years. She was always ready and willing to help family and friends and many people were touched by her kindness.

Marguerite is survived by one son, Loren (Tina) Garrison of Moorhead, Minnesota; two daughters, Shirleen Thornton of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Valarae (Bob) Witte of Columbus, Ohio., six grandchildren Larry (Judy) Thornton of London Arkansas, Laurel Peterson of Fargo, North Dakota, Thomas (Joy) Garrison of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Stacy ( Bill) Feist of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, Debbie (Rob) Beer, of Galloway, Ohio, Gina ( Ernie) Small of Hilliard, Ohio; six great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; 3 step great great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Loren ( Mabel) Braton,and her sister Edna Hughes all of Barnesville.

She is proceed in death by her parents, her husband, Cleo; her son Alvin; her daughter-in-law Peggy Garrison; her son-in-law, Maurice Thornton; five brothers and five sisters.

In Loving Memory of



Marguerite, daughter of Benjamin and Clara (Moll) Braton was born

grandchildren and two step great great-grandchildren. She is survived

by her brother, Loren (Mabel) Braton and her sister, Edna Hughes all of

Barnesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cleo; her son,

Alvin; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Garrison; her son-in-law, Maurice

Thornton; five brothers and five sisters.
