Some say Josefina came to the USA with her father in 1871 at the age of 16. She told Anna
she met Frank after they immigrated. ( Told by Otilla Peckacek) Another story is that they
married in Bohemia in 1878 immigrating to the USA in 1880. Obituary from Oatonna Journal, January 7,1937 Former Resident Dies Blooming Prairie-Mr & Mrs Frank Starman, Mr & Mrs Vincent Starman, George Day, Albert Wanous and Mrs Archie Bell with Mr & Mrs Willim Starman of West Concord attended the funeral of Mrs H. Schiller at Uland Saturday. Mrs Schiller was 79, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Herman Thornton, last week Wednesday. She had been making her home with her daughters, Mrs Herman Thornton, Mrs Alvin Thornton and Mrs Joseph Seykora at Ulland since leaving the Blooming Prairie community about 20 years ago. Besides these three daughters she is survived by three sons, Frank & Vincent of Blooming Prairie and William Starman of West Concord. She was a aunt of Mrs Bell and Mr. Wanous. Note: there was another daughter Anna Peckacek. Town spelled wrong, Ulen is the way it should be spelled. |
